About the Role

The Family Support Provider provides solution-focused support to parents to strengthen parenting skills, enhance caregiving capacity, promote safe parent-child interactions, and support family reunification. The Family Support Provider teaches and models skills, observes behavior, and documents progress in accordance with program guidelines.

Job Title: Family Support Provider-Parent Aide

Program: I.M.P.A.C.T. (Intervention through Mentoring Parents and Children Together)

Status: Part-Time (6–32 hours per week)

Pay Range: $16.75- 18.25 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.

County Coverage: Cass, Clay, and Jackson Counties (Missouri)

Reports To: Clinical Supervisor

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Core Service Delivery

  • Conduct home visits and supervised interaction sessions

  • Model and mentor parents in caregiving skills, safe supervision, and positive interactions.

  • Facilitate skill practice during everyday tasks and structured activities.

  • Assess and document changes in protective capacities and caregiving behaviors.

  • Support development and update of Family Support Plans.

  • Provide case progress reports to CD/case managers and supervisors per contract timelines.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain timely, objective, behavior-based client notes (weekly, monthly, discharge).

  • Submit required reports to case manager.

  • Participate in case review meetings and supervisor consultations.

Collaboration

  • Communicate with supervisors and other service providers regarding client progress.

  • Respect confidentiality and mandated reporting requirements.

Supervision

This position reports directly to the Clinical Supervisor (or designee) and may receive day-to-day guidance from the Program Manager. The Family Support Provider receives regular supervision to ensure alignment with program standards, documentation practices, safety protocols, and professional boundaries.

Required Qualifications

Education & Training

  • Minimum: High school diploma or GED.

  • Preferred: Coursework or degree in Social Work, Child & Family Development, Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, or related field.

  • Completion of ongoing competency-based training in areas such as child abuse/neglect indicators, child development, cultural sensitivity, and community resources appears in practice standards.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid Missouri Driver’s License (Class E) and clear driving record.

  • Reliable transportation with current auto insurance suitable for client travel.

  • Ability to pass Missouri Family Safety Registry / background checks.

Experience & Skills

  • Experience with families and children, protective capacity building, or similar human services work.

  • Strong interpersonal, cultural competence, and communication skills.

  • Ability to write clear, concise, behavior-based reports.

  • Comfortable working flexible schedules, including evenings/weekends as needed for family availability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Training or certification in parenting education models (e.g., Parent Aide training, Incredible Years, or equivalent) as recognized by Children’s Division.

  • Experience with court-ordered services or child welfare systems.

Work Environment

  • Frequent community travel (homes, visitation centers, schools).

  • Work primarily in family environments, with varying household conditions.

Schedule

  • Part-time (6–32 hrs/week) with flexible scheduling to meet family needs.

Performance Expectations

  • Deliver services safely, ethically, and reliably.

  • Maintain clear documentation in agency and CD systems.

  • Demonstrate growth in children’s safety indicators and parent skills.

  • Uphold agency and CD standards for protective capacity building.

Travel & Transportation Requirements

  • Must have reliable transportation and appropriate insurance to travel across, at a minimum:

    • Cass County, MO

    • Clay County, MO

    • Jackson County, MO

  • Able to support visits located within these counties and meet families in varied community settings.

Responsibilities:

    1. Assist parents by linking them to community resources as needed.
    2. Facilitates care coordination with other service providers to enlist existing supports in determining and meeting service objectives and to identify additional resources and supports.
    3. Prepares written service plans and treatment update summaries, incorporating input from clients, other service providers, and wraparound team members to identify problem areas and needs, service objectives, and intervention strategies.
    4. Provides direct clinical services to clients, including individual and family interventions.
    5. Completes progress reports in reference to service delivery within 96 hours. 
    6. Utilizes Electronic Medical Record system and other web-based software for all clinical documentation, record keeping, and coordination.
    7. Participates in child specific Family Assessment and Planning Meetings and other interdisciplinary, diagnostic, or planning meetings.
    8. Completes professional training provided by Divine Family Services.
    9. Attend all required trainings on an ongoing annual basis to include but not limited to: HIPAA, Blood borne Pathogens, CPR, First Aid, Person Centered Practices, Mandated Reporting, and Emergency Preparedness.
    10. Attend weekly staff meetings, group supervisions, and/or trainings.
    11. Prepares written Discharge Summary and Plan.
    12. Educates clients about services available to the individual, community alternatives, and negotiates with providers to facilitate the individual’s access to needed services when there are unusual barriers to access.
    13. Visit providers and individuals at service delivery sites or participate in treatment team meetings to collect information or to provide information about benefits and community alternatives, etc.
    14. Links clients with external programs or services, such as: health services, recreational activities, child care services, financial resources, housing placement, employment resources, child care, AA/NA groups, transportation resources, and others.
    15. Attends court hearings and probationary meetings when families are court-involved and present testimony and treatment recommendations as requested by attorneys, referral source, the court, or clients. 
    16. Make observation of parent-child interactions and provide helpful coaching and feedback.
